Getting better at functional fitness starts with understanding your movement patterns. RoxSkills makes this easy by turning your phone into an AI-powered form coach.

How to record your first session

Open the app and tap the record button at the bottom of the screen. You will see a list of 8 supported exercises including SkiErg, Rowing, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Farmer's Carry, Sandbag Lunges, and Wall Balls.

Pick the exercise you want to analyze, set up your phone with a clear view of your movement, and press record. A 3-second countdown gives you time to get into position.

Understanding your score

After recording, RoxSkills uploads your video and runs it through our AI analysis engine. Within minutes, you receive a detailed breakdown including:

  • Overall score out of 100
  • Phase-by-phase analysis — every exercise is broken into 4 distinct movement phases
  • Primary fix — the single most impactful thing you can improve
  • Secondary fixes — additional coaching cues to work on
  • Strengths — what you are already doing well

Tips for the best results

For the most accurate analysis, keep these tips in mind:

  1. Record for at least 10 seconds — longer clips give the AI more data to work with
  2. Use good lighting — make sure your full body is visible in the frame
  3. Film from the side — a lateral view typically shows the most useful information
  4. Be consistent — record from the same angle each time to track progress accurately

Tracking your progress

Every session is saved to your exercise history. Over time, you will see your scores trend upward as you implement the coaching feedback. The home screen shows your overall average across all exercises and highlights which exercise has the most room for improvement.

The AI Coach tab provides a personalized summary of your performance, ranking your exercises and suggesting where to focus next for the biggest gains.

Start with the exercise you perform most often and build from there. Consistency is what drives improvement.
